The UIC IT Community Leadership (ITCL) Award

This award recognizes and celebrates a member of the UIC IT Community who consistently demonstrates leadership in the delivery of IT services aligned with Strategic IT Priorities of:

  • Exceptional Service Delivery
  • Collaboration and Knowledge Center
  • Student Focused Services
  • Advanced Research Infrastructure
  • Innovative Teaching & Learning Technology Services

Nomination

  • To be considered for the UIC IT Leadership Award, you must be nominated or self-nominate using the nomination form available at https://uic.ca1.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_3qQ7L6l1arJaWYR
  • A minimum of three letters of support are required to be submitted along with the nomination form.  Nominations from a direct supervisor are encouraged but not required.
  • Nominations are due May 3, 2019.

Criteria

Individuals will be judged based on their leadership advancing the practice of IT in higher education and delivery of IT services aligned with Strategic IT Priorities.  Nominations should include examples supporting this individual’s leadership using the following criteria:

  • Collaborative: Facilitates (cross-unit) college collaboration by breaking down the silos across the organization to deliver technology solutions.
  • Community: Displays a sense of community and partnership across IT organizations at UIC.  (ie: participates in iLeCT socials; building bonds between people; leads professional development; etc).
  • Mentorship: Exhibits leadership through example, modeling the values and principles of UIC; coaches and mentors staff; facilitates learning and knowledge-sharing (REACH, etc).
  • Innovation: Maximizes emerging technologies to impact and influence the efficient, effective delivery of UIC’s mission.
  • Service Delivery: Promotes excellence in service delivery and regularly exceeds customer expectations while going above and beyond what is expected.

 Eligibility

  • You must be a permanent, full-time employee at UIC, UI Health, UIC regional and/or University Administration based in Chicago.
  • Must have a primary appointment as an IT professional (Civil Service and/or Academic Professional).
  • Have been employed at UIC for at least 5 years at full time.
  • Members of the Recognition Committee are not eligible at any time during their term of service.
  • Civil Service or AP employees who also carry an academic rank (faculty title) and those on a terminal contract are not eligible for the UIC ITCL Award.

Past recipients of the Award of Merit, Inspire, or CAPE Award may be nominated for the UIC ITCL Award, provided a minimum of five years has elapsed between the last award and the UIC ITCL Award has been received.

 


The UIC IT Community Rising Star (ITRS) Award

This award recognizes and celebrates a member of the UIC IT Community who consistently demonstrates high potential in the daily execution of their role and approach to common issues within IT.

Nomination

  • To be considered for the UIC IT Rising Star Award, you must be nominated or self-nominate using the nomination form available at https://uic.ca1.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_3qQ7L6l1arJaWYR
  • A minimum of three letters of support are required to be submitted along with the nomination form.  Nominations need not be from a direct supervisor.  A letter from the nominees home unit is recommended, but not required.
  • Nominations are due May 3, 2019.

Criteria

Individuals will be judged based on their demonstration of the fundamental principles of collaboration, community building, innovation and service delivery.  Characteristics of nominees for the ITRS Award include:  energetic, dedicated, enthusiastic, cooperative, tenacious, presents new ideas, finds new ways to resolve issues, identifies organizational challenges and proposes alternative solutions.

Nominations should include examples supporting this individual’s high potential using the following criteria:

  • Collaborative: Facilitates collaboration by breaking down the silos across the organization to deliver technology solutions.
  • Community: Displays a sense of community and partnership across IT organizations at UIC.  (ie: participates in iLeCT socials; building bonds between people; leads professional development; etc).
