Disaster Recovery Overview

The CIO has also initiated a project to assess and evaluate the campus disaster recovery plan of data and systems. A Disaster Recovery Plan (DRP) will be created to restore the operability of systems that support mission-critical activities and critical business processes. The objective is for the organization to return to normal operations as soon as possible. Having a DRP in place reduces the risk that the length of time that a disruption in a business process does not go beyond what has been determined to be acceptable by management in the organization.

Areas to Assess

  • Minimized business interruption
  • Minimized periods of low productivity
  • Positive customer service experience
  • Business survival in the event of a serious incident
  • Minimizing of financial impact
  • Providing a standard for testing the plan
