About the CIO
Cynthia Herrera Lindstrom
Chief Information Officer & Executive Director of ACCC
Cynthia Herrera Lindstrom is the Chief Information Officer and the Executive Director of the Academic Computing and Communications Center (ACCC). These twin roles allow her to set strategic direction for the campus IT environment, and provide her with the ability to direct the operational management of the campus’s central IT group (ACCC). In these roles, she guides the course of IT to meet the needs of students, faculty, and staff.
Cynthia has been CIO since 2012. She started working for ACCCC as an undergraduate student, and has held numerous roles within ACCC. As CIO, she is part of the Provost’s leadership team aligning IT with the campus mission. She has recently been designated as the University’s HIPAA Privacy & Security Compliance Officer due to the importance of having someone in this role who understands the data compliance and regulatory requirements.

Office of the CIO
The Office of the Chief Information Officer is responsible for IT strategies and capabilities supporting excellence in research, education, and outreach at the University of Illinois at Chicago. The CIO’s portfolio includes responsibility for IT Governance, IT Policies, the campus central IT organization (ACCC), and initiatives to help the campus exploit new technologies in support of the various needs of stakeholder groups.
